Our
interest in this wonderful creature began through our sons, Roy and
Steven. Roy raised Emu and Rhea while Steven's FFA project in
high school was buying and selling Emu. Steven received several
awards with this project, including Proficiency Award Specialty Animal
Production, Star Chapter Farmer Award, and State Farmer Award.
We
began with all three ratites and quickly found Emu to be our
favorite. They had the best personalities and were very easy to
raise and hatch. Joining with others who believed these birds
could help mankind, not only through the meat and oil, but also
through contribution to the land rather than taking from it, we
believed production of these birds was the natural thing to do.
We found some really great people!! We began using the oil for
just about everything, from small scratches to bad burns. Then
we wanted to share the good news with the rest of the world!!!! We had
found something we could keep everywhere and which would be safe
enough to aid in healing everything from diaper rash to a finger stuck
by a fish hook!! The emu oil so easily took the pain from a burn
such as Danny experienced when he burnt all his finger tips when
removing a glass dish with ham in it He timed just how long it
took for the pain to stop - it was about 8 minutes and the pain was
almost gone. The burn did not blister or peel. Since then,
Danny has used it several times while welding, etc.
We
wanted to share this amazing product with everyone. But someone
had to make it happen. So we joined with Joyce Benight of Four
Winds Farm who felt the same way we did. With God's help,
love, patience, and the creation of these birds, we formed Diamond Emu
Products.
